If you like to use real branches for your tiels to destroy, here's suggestion to make replacement easier. Find a piece of pipe around 12mm in dia. and a piece of dowel to snugly fit inside.
If you have a stone or brick wall in the flight, drill a hole about 100mm deep and of a diameter so that the pipe is a tight fit. Insert a length of the pipe so that the end is flush with the wall. If required it can be secured with mortar or even silicone rubber.
Now drill the end of the branch and insert and glue the dowel into the hole.
The branch can now be easily removed, replaced.
If your aviary is timber, ensure the location you choose is strong enough to take the weight of a perch + birds and drill and screw the pipe in place. |
